In this quick and easy project, we reinvented the appearance of this old Howards engine with our specialised RAL 9005 Engine Bay Paint. Take a look at the steps we followed and check out the fantastic before and after photos!
Tools & Paint Required:
- Multi-Grade Sanding Paper
- Sanding/Paint Mask
- Masking Tape
- Masking Paper
- Degreaser
- RAL 9005 Engine Bay Paint
Preparation:
To paint an engine, preparation is key. First, remove the engine and seal all appropriate ports. Next, thoroughly power wash the engine with suitable detergents and allow it to dry completely. After drying, degrease the engine bay thoroughly. Then, mask off any parts of the engine block that you do not want to paint.
Painting:
After all surfaces have dried and masking is complete, apply the Black RAL 9005 Engine Bay Paint. Apply 2 to 4 coats, allowing up to 40 minutes for curing between each. Once all coats are applied, leave the engine to cure overnight. This final paint not only transforms the engine bay aesthetically but can also add value to your vehicle.
Final Word:
This is a great example of a project that anyone, regardless of skill level, can complete with a little preparation. We’re looking forward to moving on to the next project, and as always, if you need any assistance with your own project, our team is just a phone call away!
